Trion & Co

Today, I’m very excited to announce the launch of TriOn & Co, a strategic communications consultancy born out of a simple and clear vision of doing what is good. Doing good work for clients. Doing what is good for the team. Doing what is good for ourselves and the business.

Starting this journey with me are Charu and Joel, two highly skilled and experienced communications experts who are also well-respected in the industry – for their strategic counsel and expertise, and most importantly, as one of the most genuine and kind people around. In our last 2 years working together, we’ve learnt so much from each other and our partnership (and friendship) is built on strong trust and openness. I’m very excited that we get to do this together and I know that this journey will be a lasting one.

It all started with a simple idea. We want to do good work for our clients. What if we could do this while creating a place that is inspiring and empowering. Where work is thoughtful, meaningful and no-nonsense. A place that is safe and supportive.

Over the last eight years of my life, I focused heavily and deeply in my career because I am someone that believes in doing the best of my ability. Once I’ve set my goal, I give my 100% to prove to myself that I can achieve it. I am someone that does not give up easily.

My journey started small, at a boutique B2B communications firm Fifth Ring, where I learnt the ropes of PR. We were a lean team, so I got a chance to experience everything first-hand, from media relations to content writing and even administrative and operational tasks around the office. I remember spending the quieter hours of the evening doing research, writing and preparing myself for the next day. Unknowingly I trained myself to be more organised and disciplined, and those two years would prepare me for my role at Burson-Marsteller.

At B-M (now BCW), I was determined to do more and challenge myself. I did many things for the first time like presenting at government pitches in a large boardroom and leading client meetings. I learnt quickly and independently while becoming a stronger team player. Soon, I became the account lead to multiple corporate and government clients, constantly working under high pressure. My greatest learning was to lead with confidence and empathy. I gained a lot of mental strength and perseverance during that period. I was also extremely lucky to meet and form long-lasting friendships with many of my colleagues, from directors to interns. Together, we did some amazing work including the DBS Marina Regatta, National Youth Council’s YOUTHx, launching the Open Electricity Market with the Energy Market Authority and MyRepublic Mobile! I learnt the true meaning of a ‘team’ and many of my fondest memories were the times we spent outside of the office 😊

The most recent stop of my journey was at Redhill where I spent the past three years becoming a stronger communications expert and leader. I joined my team when there were only 5 people. Filled with tenacity, I was determined to help build a strong foundation for the young and growing team. My toughest times were during the pandemic, where I had to shift gears quickly, recalibrate client work and at the same time motivate the team. I faced the computer screen from day to night on con-calls, talking to our teams, talking to clients, editing documents, pitching and presenting on Zoom. It seemed like time was at a standstill. As the days passed, the circuit breaker and the stresses of work took a toll on my health. This was a defining moment that changed the way I manage myself and my team. It taught me a good lesson on prioritising my mental health – and that it was just as important as physical health.

The greatest achievement was seeing my hard work pay off. The team grew almost 4x in size. I pitched and won new clients, and led large-scale campaigns and events such as COP27 with the Singapore PMO team and the Singapore Convention Week with the Ministry of Law Singapore. I also won my first individual award alongside a slew of client awards, which was a huge motivator and recognition of my work. I even got the opportunity to challenge myself further through regional/international creative competitions, winning and/or getting shortlisted each year. It served as an important reminder that I can achieve success with the right balance.

All these learnings and experiences have shaped me to be the woman that you see today. Many years of personal experiences, good/bad encounters, different people that I met, mistakes that I have made.

I’m sure that with my insights and hard-earned lessons, I will do even better at TriOn and Co. It makes me confident and empowered that I have Charu and Joel on this journey because we all share the same vision and aspiration to set a new standard for the industry – one that is meaningful, fulfilling and rewarding! If you do too, talk to us and we’d love to grab a cuppa!
